SONY MUSIC
iDACS supplied over 340km of bespoke white Datwyler cable and related components for the new SONY MUSIC ENTERPRISES Data Centre in Kings Cross. The project was installed by Datwyler certified installers, The Cabling Group, who iDACS worked with closely during every stage of the process.
The Data Centre was designed to facilitate record labels that Sony Music owns, supports, or uses. It needed to provide flexibility for upgrades and to support new technologies and equipment installations, while meeting operational requirements and complying with the latest BS EN standards.
The design team wanted to ensure that the SONY data centre was built differently from the rest, specifically including scope for quick future expansion over the next 20 years.
The requirement for speed is rapidly increasing in computing and networking, so with this in mind, it was crucial to specify the latest high-performance products with headroom to handle any future connectivity growth.
SONY specified Datwyler Cabling (available exclusively through iDACS in the UK and Ireland) to support its mission-critical IT infrastructure.
We commissioned a dedicated manufacturing run of 340km bespoke white cable from Datwyler for the project, and managed logistics to ensure deadlines were met.
The project required;
- 1920 x 48 way Cat6A Harness links
- 74 x 24 way Cat6A Cabinet link outlets
- 37 x 24 core OM4 Fibre cabinet links
The Data Centre has become a show-piece for SONY, who have installed clear floors panels to expose the quality of the cabling infrastructure.
iDACS worked closely with Datwyler certified installers, The Cabling Group, throughout the project and will be managing the 25-system warranty on Datwyler’s behalf once the Data Centre is up and running.
