The company’s own plans for the future are being realised with the redevelopment of the Shell site on London’s South Bank. Incorporating the existing 27-floor Shell Centre Tower plus new buildings; the project includes 245,000 sq ft of new office space and trading floors for Shell. The office expansion will allow all 4000 of Shell’s London-based staff to be located on one site for the first time.

When considering which cabling infrastructure to use on the project, performance and cost of ownership were key factors. Ultimately, after a lengthy specification process, Datwyler cabling was selected. iDAC Solutions - the exclusive source for Datwyler cabling systems in the UK&I - worked closely with Shell and The Cabling Group (a Datwyler certified installer) to deliver the project.

iDACS liaised regularly with TCG & Datwyler to ensure that products were available as and when required. In addition to planning stock schedules and logistics with Datwyler, iDACS were allocated dedicated production runs to fulfil the Shell project.

iDACS deployed dedicated trucks to ensure that stringent site restrictions were adhered to - avoiding problems with goods receiving at the loading bay.
Paul Hunter, Technical Director at iDACS, has made several site visits during the install; offering advise and discussing any changes to the original floor-plan. On completion of the project, iDACS will administrate the Datwyler 25-year System Warranty using test results supplied by installer TCG, and issue certification. The site will also be eligible for iDACS’ unique Network MoT service - offered exclusively to customers with a Datwyler Warrantied cabling system.
